Tool SSL Certificate Checker

Is a site's certificate valid?

Enter a host name to see who issued its certificate, when it expires, and whether it matches the name you typed.

About the SSL Certificate Checker

An SSL/TLS certificate lets browsers confirm they are talking to the real website and encrypts the connection. If it expires, does not cover the name visitors type, or is missing part of its chain, browsers show a security warning and many visitors leave.

This checker connects to the server the way a browser does and reports the certificate's expiry date and days remaining, the host names it covers, whether it matches the name you entered, who issued it, the full certificate chain, and the TLS version and cipher in use. It also works for mail and control panel ports such as 465, 993 and 2083.

Frequently asked questions

Enter the host name above. The summary shows the expiry date and how many days are left; anything under 14 days is flagged.

The certificate does not list the name you visited. For example, a certificate for www.example.com does not cover example.com unless both names are included. The "Names covered" row shows exactly which names it includes.

Browsers trust a certificate because it is signed by an intermediate certificate, which is signed by a trusted root. The server must send the intermediate certificates; if one is missing, some devices will not trust the site.
